Conor Hayes is an Irish producer, musician and composer working across electronic, ambient and contemporary instrumental music.

His work combines analogue and digital production, acoustic instrumentation and collaborative performance, with a particular interest in texture, repetition, memory and the spaces between nostalgia and unease.

Scoilt is his current collaborative platform for releases, composition and experimentation across music, visual media and live performance.

Background

Hayes began making music in the 1990s as a guitarist, recording early ideas on four-track machines before becoming increasingly drawn to electronic production and the creative possibilities outside traditional band structures.

Working under the name Splint Boy, he developed beat-driven and melodic electronic music and performed at pubs, clubs and house parties across Ireland and the UK.

In the mid-2000s he was also a member of the folktronica group Spool, whose EP was named CD of the Week by The Irish Times.

While living in Denmark in 2024, Hayes began developing the work that would become Scoilt: a collaborative and experimental project bringing together electronic production, acoustic instrumentation and contributions from other musicians and artists.

Now returned to Ireland, Scoilt continues to evolve through releases, collaboration, visual-media work and the development of live performance.
